Terms of Service

Effective August 8, 2026.

1. Who we are

Dataset Foundry ("Dataset Foundry," "we," "us," "our") is a synthetic dataset generation platform, registered in Ghana. Insurance — covering motor, life, health, and Home & Property claims data — is the first line family; further line families for research, education, and departmental use are planned beyond insurance alone. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Dataset Foundry and every line family on it (the "Service").

2. Acceptance

By creating an account, purchasing rows, subscribing to Pro, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

3. Eligibility & accounts

  • You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account or make a purchase.
  • One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to work around the free-tier allowance, rate limits, or other anti-abuse measures (see our Privacy Policy) violates these Terms and may result in suspension of every associated account.
  • You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

4. What the Service is (and isn't)

Every dataset the Service generates is synthetic — produced by a documented statistical model, not derived from or containing any real individual's data, real claims records, or real policyholder information. See the Methodology page for the specifics of the currently-live insurance claims module.

The Service is intended for research, educational, and analytical use — thesis work, coursework, methods testing, internal training datasets, and similar purposes. It is not a substitute for real-world data in any application where that distinction matters, such as actual underwriting, actual claims processing, or any decision affecting a real person. We don't warrant that any dataset is fit for a particular research purpose beyond what's documented on the Methodology page — you decide whether a given dataset's assumptions suit your use case.

5. Fees, wallet, and subscriptions

  • Rows are the unit of usage. You can buy rows individually (a "top-up," charged once) from the wallet page, or subscribe to Pro for a recurring monthly row allowance plus the other benefits described on the subscribe page.
  • All payments are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your card or Mobile Money details directly.
  • Top-up rows, once credited to your wallet, do not expire while your account remains active.
  • A Pro subscription renews automatically at the interval you chose (monthly or annual) until you cancel. Canceling stops the next renewal; your Pro access and that period's included rows continue until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • See our Refund Policy for exactly when refunds are and aren't available.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with rate limits, the free-tier allowance, or other anti-abuse measures.
  • Use automated means to create accounts, scrape the Service beyond normal use, or resell access to it without our prior written agreement.
  • Present Service-generated data as real data belonging to any actual individual or institution.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes anyone else's rights.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the underlying generation methodology beyond what's documented on the Methodology page for the purpose of competing with the Service.

7. Institutional accounts

Institutional/enterprise accounts (seat-based licenses, pooled wallets, invoice/PO billing) are additionally governed by the specific agreement or purchase order signed with Dataset Foundry for that account. Where that agreement conflicts with these Terms, the signed agreement controls for that institution.

8. Intellectual property

We retain all rights in the Service itself — the generation methodology, software, and platform. You own the datasets you generate, and are free to use, publish, and cite them, including via the citation block and manifest the Service provides with each download.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any dataset's statistical properties will suit every research application. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dataset Foundry's total liability arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of research data, lost time, or reputational harm arising from reliance on generated data.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, including confirmed abuse of anti-abuse measures. You may stop using the Service, or delete your account, at any time from your account page or by contacting us.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date; continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the update. For material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify account holders by email.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. Nothing here limits any statutory right you have under the law of your own country that can't be waived by contract.
